🤍Raising a concern in a relationship does not mean the relationship is over.
In many cases, the other person may not be fully aware of the impact of their behaviour, and naming it gives them the opportunity to understand and work on it.
The more telling moment comes after that conversation. If the same behaviour continues once it has been raised and discussed, that is meaningful information. Not a verdict, but a signal worth paying attention to.
Dr Victoria Uwannah explains that people can and do change, and no partner should be expected to be perfect.
What becomes a real concern is consistent refusal to take responsibility for behaviour that causes harm, to the other person or to the relationship. Accountability has to come before change can follow.
Addressing issues early, before resentment builds, is not confrontational. It is about building the relationship on something honest.
