🌍 Cancer Myth - with Oncology Counsellor Adetoun Alli-Adams #cancerawareness #breakingthestigma
This video explores how education plays a vital role in dispelling the myth that cancer is a death sentence within many West African communities. Cultural beliefs, limited awareness and late diagnosis can fuel fear and stigma, preventing people from seeking help early. By raising awareness, sharing survival stories, clarifying misconceptions and empowering prevention through culturally sensitive education, communities can shift the narrative from hopelessness to possibility. Working alongside trusted community and faith leaders, and improving access to accurate information and resources, helps bridge the gap between traditional beliefs and medical understanding, encouraging earlier, life-saving interventions.
