🧬Collective Trauma - with Health Psychologist Dr Ravi Gill #intergenerationaltrauma #healinggenerations
This video explores collective trauma: when communities, cultures or nations experience devastating shared events such as pandemics, war, colonisation or systemic oppression. When these experiences remain unresolved, their impact can be passed down through stories, behaviours and even biology, shaping how future generations relate to safety, trust and identity. Collective trauma may show up as unexplained fears, silence around certain topics, inherited beliefs about danger or scarcity, or repeated cycles of struggle that echo ancestral survival strategies. Awareness is the first step, and therapeutic approaches such as family systems and narrative therapy can help unpack inherited pain, while communities rebuild resilience by reclaiming language, rituals and connection.
