Most people never stop to ask if their values still fit - with Clinical Psychologist Dr Marta Lopez
The values that shape our lives are often ones we picked up a long time ago. From family, from experience, from a version of ourselves that no longer quite exists.
And most of the time, we carry them forward without question.
Dr. Marta Lopez explores why that matters. When we fail to pause and reflect on what is truly important to us in the present, we do not get to choose our values consciously. We simply repeat them. And eventually, life has a way of forcing that re-evaluation for us, often through an experience we did not see coming and were not prepared for.
The alternative is quieter and far less disruptive. It starts with active listening to yourself. Asking not just what you believe, but whether those beliefs still reflect who you are and who you want to become.
Introspection is rarely comfortable. But it is far less uncomfortable than arriving at a crossroads with no idea how you got there.
When did you last genuinely revisit what matters most to you?
