🧠 Trauma vs PTSD - with Dr Ravi Gill #trauma #ptsd
This video explores the important distinction between trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Trauma refers to a distressing or overwhelming event, and while it can lead to temporary emotional pain, not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD. PTSD is a recognised mental health condition that can occur when the brain struggles to fully process what has happened. It involves persistent symptoms such as flashbacks, avoidance, emotional numbness and hypervigilance, sometimes lasting months or years. PTSD can alter how the brain processes memory and emotion, keeping the body in a prolonged stress response and making it difficult to feel safe, even when danger has passed.
