A resilience coach works on how someone handles pressure, setbacks and generally demanding periods, whether at work or in life more broadly. That covers recovering well after a genuine difficulty, building sustainable working patterns rather than simply pushing through, managing workload and stress before they become overwhelming, and preparing deliberately for a period someone already knows is going to be hard.
Often delivered at a team level
This kind of coaching is common in organisational settings, and is often delivered to whole teams as well as to individuals, reflecting how resilience is shaped as much by a wider working environment and culture as by any one person's individual coping strategies.
Coaching is not treatment
Resilience coach is an unregulated title, so it is worth checking a particular coach's training and professional body membership before starting work with them. It is also important to be clear that coaching is not treatment, and where pressure has genuinely become depression, an anxiety disorder or burnout in the clinical sense, proper clinical support is needed first, with coaching best placed alongside that rather than in place of it.
